Two local area seniors awarded Men of Note Music Scholarship

Alisha Reeve, a graduating senior at Western High School, and Marrissa Tuttle, a graduating senior at Taylor High School, have each been awarded the Men of Note, Keep America Singing, Music Scholarship by the Kokomo Chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society. This $500 scholarship is offered each year to a graduating senior from one of the nine surrounding high schools who is entering college in the field of music education, with a vocal music option. This year’s two qualifying applicants were so exceptional that the Men of Note elected to give each of them the award.

Miss Reeve has been accepted into the School of Music at Ball State University, Muncie, Indiana. She is an outstanding vocal musician, according to references from Western High School.

Alisha has been a member of Western High School’s choir for four years and has been a member of the select Varsity Choir and Vocal Jazz Choir this year. She was selected to participate in Butler University’s Vocal Jazz Festival this past year. She was a member the All-State Honor Choir. She has sung the National Anthem to open the "Spell Bowl" as well as the "Academic Super Bowl".

Miss Tuttle has been accepted into the School of Music at Marian University in Indianapolis, also receiving their "Director’s Award Scholarship".

Marrissa has been Cadet Teacher for the Middle School Choir at Taylor High School and has directed that choir at their concerts the past two years. She has performed with the "Titan Sounds Vocal Jazz" ensemble at Taylor High School, which performs many of its songs a cappella. The past two years, Marrissa has received gold medals at the state ISSMA vocal contest.
